Fall has been “picture perfect” for portraits. Each family photo session has captured the golden, rustic aesthetic that I love about this time of year.
I had the pleasure of working with a gorgeous family on an especially warm and inviting afternoon in October at South Mesa Trailhead in Boulder, CO. The atmosphere was relaxed as usual, despite that the park was bustling with photographers, it was like “Family Portrait Day”.
Michelle, Howard, and their adorable baby boy, Dex were celebrating their first year as a family of three. The family photo session was also a wonderful opportunity to say “Goodbye” to Colorado, as they were in the midst of moving to their new home in Arizona.
We enjoyed our walk along the trail, scoping out the many charming spots that South Mesa has to offer. Our first stop was at a wooden bridge and then made our way to the quaint creek below. As we continued toward the mountains, the family posed in front of a stunning Cottonwood tree. I then spotted an uncrowded space with grand views of The Rockies.
As the sun began to set, Michelle, Howard, and Dex changed their outfits and we journeyed back to the park. We spent a few moments in front of a bush that was a beautiful shade of deep red. Finally, I captured photos with the sun glistening through the Aspen trees and mountains in the landscape. It was the perfect finish to this memorable family photo session.
Michelle and Howard loved the gallery of portraits they received. I have been looking forward to sharing the final results with all of you, as well!
