They tell me they feel uncomfortable with their changing bodies, do not know how to pose, or worry that they are not “photogenic.” Some wonder whether they should wait until they feel more confident. But the truth is that you do not need to arrive at your maternity session already feeling confident. Helping you feel comfortable, beautiful, and cared for is part of my job.

You Don’t Need to Know How to Pose

Almost every woman tells me, “I don’t know what to do in front of the camera.” You do not need to know. I will gently guide you throughout the entire session, from where to place your hands to how to position your body in the most flattering and natural way.

My approach is calm and never rushed. I pay attention to the little details that make a big difference: your posture, the light, the movement of your dress, and the most flattering angles for your body.

You will never be left wondering what to do next.

Your Session Will Be Designed Around You

Before your session, we will talk about the type of photographs you love and how you would like to feel in your images. You may prefer something soft and romantic, elegant and minimal, or relaxed and natural.

I can also help you choose outfits and colors that photograph beautifully. You will have access to my maternity wardrobe, so you do not need to purchase something you may only wear once. Partners and children are welcome too, allowing us to document not only your pregnancy but also the love and anticipation surrounding your growing family.

You Are Allowed to Celebrate This Version of Yourself

It is easy to focus on the parts of your body that feel different. My role is to help you see yourself with more kindness.

A maternity session is not about pretending pregnancy is always easy. It is about preserving a meaningful chapter of your life—one that will never happen in exactly the same way again.

You may not feel completely like yourself right now, but years from today, these photographs can remind you of your strength, your tenderness, and the incredible connection you already shared with your baby.

The women who feel the most nervous are often the ones who are most surprised by their photographs. Many begin the session feeling unsure and finish feeling more confident and beautiful than they expected.

A Relaxed Approach to San Diego Pregnancy Photography

Your comfort is always my priority. We can choose a peaceful San Diego beach, a beautiful indoor studio, or another location that reflects your personality. We will also plan the session for a time when the light is flattering and the environment feels relaxed.

Maternity sessions are generally best scheduled between 25 and 30 weeks, when your belly is beautifully defined but you are hopefully still comfortable enough to enjoy the experience.
